Ever wander down the street and wonder if the dog laying on the side of the road sleeping through the afternoon sun has a home? Do you see dogs outside your house and think: Why are they here now and where did they come from? How can I get them fixed? Are you curious about what the laws are related to roof dogs, street dogs, your neighbour's aggressive and obnoxious Chihuahua? Wonder if you should ever pick up the starving dog on the side of the road and "save" him? Curious about what organizations exist to help street animals and beloved pets in Oaxaca? Come and learn about these things and more.

Tanya Lapierre started working with dogs about 7 years ago in Toronto, Canada, with a foster organization called Speaking of Dogs. She worked with animal behaviourist Mirkka from Mindful Behaviours in Toronto to understand a crazy Doberman's behaviour and is an advocate for positive reinforcement training. She fostered 7 dogs before moving to Oaxaca 5 years ago, where in addition to volunteering at the OLL, she spends time in Zaachila with Tia Migue's dog refuge, home to about 150 dogs.

This presentation will take place on the 2nd floor terrace of the Library. Seating in the salon will be made available for those unable to access the terrace.
